Certificate management (Apply for user certificates and server certificates)
Certificates enable users to digitally sign documents and e-mails and to send confidential information in encrypted form. The requisite for issuing a personal certificate is an identity check, which is carried out at TU Dresden by authorized persons on campus or centrally by employees of the Service Desk in presence, or in exceptional situations as a video identification procedure.
User certificates and certificates for function logins (group certificates) can be obtained through the "User/function certificates" tab.
Server certificates (TLS certificates) are used to encrypt connections on the Internet, e.g. between a user's browser and the web server that provides a website, and thus protect sensitive data. Furthermore, TLS certificates serve as confirmation of the authenticity of a web server with which communication is taking place. Server certificates should be obtained through ACME. In special cases it is also possible to obtain server certificates through the service desk. Certificates are provided by the certificate authority "HARICA".
